Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DOES LASER TATTOO REMOVAL WORK?
Laser tattoo removal uses laser light to break up tattoo ink into small particles that your body will absorb naturally. The laser penetrates the outer skin layers and only targets the tattoo ink. Your body’s immune system then removes the particles. Black, red and dark blue color pigment are easiest to remove. Other colors, such as green, are more difficult to remove.

HOW IS TATTOO INK REMOVED?
Tattoo ink is removed by using a specific wavelength which passes through the skin but is absorbed by the ink. The rapid absorption of light energy causes the tattoo ink to shatter into small pieces which are then removed by the body's natural filtering systems. The light is emitted in short pulses. The impact of the energy from the powerful pulse of light is similar to the snap of a thin rubber band on the skin. Although the large majority of patients do not require anesthesia, topical anesthetic creams can be helpful.

WHAT SKIN-TYPES CAN BE TREATED?
Inkoff.me’s laser tattoo removal is effective on all ink colors and skin types.

IS THE LASER IS SAFE?
Yes. It is FDA approved. And numerous studies have confirmed the technology we use for laser tattoo removal is safe, effective and very rarely has lasting side effects.

DOES REMOVAL HURT?
Q-Switched nd:Yag lasers remove tattoo ink with much less discomfort producing a sensation described as a small rubber band being snapped against the skin. Treatments are extremely fast.  Also, we offer topical numbing cream applied 40-60 minutes before the laser tattoo removal treatment. Post-treatment discomfort is similar to a sunburn and some minor itching.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL BE REQUIRED?
The number of laser tattoo removal treatments depends on the type of tattoo, the colors and depth of the ink in the skin as well as the tattoo’s placement and the time since it was applied. Generally, professional tattoos will require 6-10 laser tattoo removal treatments while amateur tattoos will need 3-5 laser tattoo removal treatments. Multi colored tattoos, especially those with lighter colored inks, may require more. Laser tattoo removal treatments should be spaced 6-8 weeks apart allowing your body time to absorb the ink's particles from the previous treatment.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
Our laser tattoo removal treatment prices are about 40% lower than our least expensive legitimate competitor. Also, our technology means fewer treatments than most competitors. Inkoff.me offers free consultations and estimates of the number of laser tattoo removal treatments and the cost.

WHAT'S A CONSULTATION?
Your first visit will include a Free 20 minute consultation where we will review your health information, assess your skin, and ask questions to make sure laser removal is appropriate for you. Your tattoo will be measured and the inked area calculated and evaluated. You will then be counseled on the removal process and the results you should expect. We will estimate your required amount of laser tattoo removal treatments, cost per treatment and total removal cost.

The light is emitted in very short flashes called pulses. The impact of the energy from the powerful pulse of light is similar to the snap of a thin rubber band on the skin. Although the large majority of patients do not require anesthesia, topical anesthetic creams can be helpful.

CAN YOU REMOVE ALL THE INK?
In many cases, greater than 95% fading of the tattoo may be accomplished with laser tattoo removal. However, it is very important to know that over 100 tattoo inks are in use worldwide today, none of which are regulated by the FDA. Not knowing which tattoo ink, how deep or how much was used, makes it impossible for the physician to predict how well any given tattoo will respond to laser tattoo removal.

IS THERE A HEALING PERIOD?
Occasionally there will be pinpoint bleeding associated with laser tattoo removal. An ointment, icepack and dressing will be applied to the area. The treated area should be kept clean with continued application of any ointment given to you by your physician. A shower can be taken the next day, although the treated area should not be scrubbed.
